DIY Magazine November 2019: The 1975 (Matty Healy) Cover Exclusive
Our new issue which casts an eye back on the past twelve months of music and comes fronted by the incredibleĀ The 1975, is out now!
Ahhh, 2019! What a year itās been for music! From the dizzying heights of Kylie at Glasto, to the small matter of Billie Eilishās world domination, thereās been a hell of a lot go down over the past twelve months.
And, we hear you ask, what band could front such an issue? Well, it could only ever have beenĀ The 1975. In our cover feature, we travel to Australia to meet them in the thick of their massive world tour, where we reflect on the madness that has been their last twelve months, before returning that bit closer to home to meet Matty in the bandās Oxfordshire studio, where we dig into their fourth album, āNotes On A Conditional Formā.
Elsewhere this issue, we visit man-of-the-momentĀ slowthaiĀ on the road as he plays his biggest shows yet and catch up with the formidable force that isĀ Fontaines DC, who we find reflecting on their year during a well-earned break Stateside. Not only that, but we run through an A - Z of all of 2019ās hits (and some misses!), which includes a bit of gossip fromĀ Royal Bloodās Mike Kerr and Matt Berry about the newest edition ofĀ Desert Sessions. Howās about that then?!
Itās not all looking back though: we sit down with former Maccabee frontman Orlando Weeks, ahead of his brand new musical foray, and talk to Ben Gregory ofĀ BlaenavonĀ about their bittersweet, second album. Plus, in Neu, we meet Master Peace, Sorcha Richardson and Italia 90. And if thatās not enough to keep you going til December, we donāt know what is!
