MOJO The Collectorsā Series
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: Glory Days 1949-2021
MOJO is delighted to bring together its finest writing on Bruce Springsteen in a deluxe bookazine.
One of the true rock greats, Bruce Springsteen has captured the experience of contemporary American life better than any other artist. Since 1973, his songs have taken us on an exhilarating road trip through the darkness and light of his nationās psyche, more often than not powered by the mighty rockānāroll bluster of his beloved E Street Band. To salute the man known as āThe Bossā, MOJO has assembled this sumptuous 132-page volume, featuring all the magazineās major interviews with Springsteen down the years, plus a wealth of archive stories and rare and iconic images.
GLORY DAYS 1949-2021 begins with a fascinating account of two encounters with Bruce, in 1973 and 1974, when the singerās future was uncertain and he was finding it hard to pay the E Street Bandās wages. Springsteen and the group then tell the story of how their fortunes changed dramatically with 1975ās Born To Run album, which brought international acclaim and introduced to the world a collection of colourful characters, inspired by the singerās blue-collar New Jersey background.
MOJOās Phil Sutcliffe profiles Bruceās much-misinterpreted mid-ā80s triumph Born In The USA, while David Fricke writes about the āquieterā follow-up, 1987ās Tunnel Of Love, as well as Springsteenās most recent album, Western Stars. In between are in-depth interviews by Mark Hagen and Keith Cameron, conducted respectively at Bruceās home in New Jersey and in New York City, shedding light on every aspect of his extraordinary life and career. As The Clashās Joe Strummer declared in a fax sent to MOJO in 1995, āWe love Springsteen!ā
